Mental Health Counselors

Sometimes when you feel uncomfortable it is a natural response to want to alleviate the distress.  Or, there are times when those close to you are suggesting you get professional help because you are experiencing a crisis or problem.  It is at times like these that a counselor can be a source of comfort, support, and professional help that is able to offer a different perspective and understanding that family and friends are unable to often provide with their advice.

“Good indicators of when you should seek counseling are when you’re having difficulties at work, your ability to concentrate is diminished or when your level of pain becomes uncomfortable.  However, you don’t want to wait until the pain becomes unbearable or you’re at the end of your rope.”  Dr. Gail Robinson

Debrah Williams ~ MA, LPC, NCC

Debrah Williams, MA
For the last several years I have been working as a Mental Health Therapist in private practice. This was something I always wanted to do, but had decided to wait until my family was raised. I then went to graduate school at George Fox University and received my Masters of Arts in counseling. Specialties are: working with those who have had long term anxiety and depression, couples who have struggled for years but seem to find no answers, and helping anyone who wants to increase his/her awareness and understanding of the cycles that interfere with life.

Before returning to graduate school I worked for Chiropractors and Doctors running their offices and managing patient care, billing insurance, and collections. I also spent time helping my husband run his contracting business of 30 years. I come from a long line of self employed people, as I grew up in a home where my parents owned several restaurants, and where I acquired the mindset and skills for management and business development. I have thoroughly enjoyed combining my skills and passion of working with people and business to co-create Wholistic Mental Health Offices with Gabriele.

Christopher Siedow – LMHC, CMHS

Christopher SiedowSeptember 11, 2001 meant many things for many people. For me, that day changed my life’s course. As I sat–shocked like many others–watching the world become never the same again, I began to realize that twelve years of working the restaurant industry would be coming to an end. During the shock of the days that followed, no one could stop talking about it. I found myself talking with many through their frustrations. A number of times, these persons asked me if I had ever considered “going into ministry” or “becoming a counselor.” The similarities of the feedback seemed too close to be coincidence. It seemed I’d been divinely called to this profession.

Since earning my Master’s Degree in Counseling from George Fox University in 2006, I have spent the past five years helping youth, young adults, and families change their perspectives away from those that do not help them to those that do. I seek to learn from my clients how they see their world, almost as if to “take a picture” of where their lives are at. Using that picture, I look to identify challenges, and guide toward more helpful coping strategies. All services I provide are grounded in a Christian foundation.

In 2008 I achieved formal licensure in the State of Washington, and in 2009 was accredited as a Youth/Child Mental Health Specialist in recognition of my efforts with teen populations.

Janelle Adams – MA

Christopher SiedowMy experience and education have given me a broad variety of skills that have
offered me a unique gift in approaching and working with youth. I received my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a certificate in Art Therapy from Notre Dame De Namur University in Central California. I have enjoyed working with youth in some capacity from the time I was able to first start babysitting. That passion for working with youth has grown and blossomed over the years as I’ve worked in childcare centers, as a swimming instructor and working in schools. While in graduate school, I spent time at two elementary schools developing techniques to better understand and work with
children, young adults and their families.

Deb Scott – LICSW, LCSW

Christopher Siedow For the past 15 years I have worked as a Therapist and Advocate in community nonprofit agencies providing services to people with histories of family violence, sexual abuse and/or unresolved childhood traumas. I have a passion for this work and will always welcome the opportunity to work with those seeking healing from these issues. I also have experience in helping those to work through PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Eating Disorders, Self Harm, and Self Esteem conflicts.

I am excited to be joining the therapeutic team at Wholistic Mental Health and look forward to working with those seeking insight and understanding into the way they approach their lives. I believe that each of us is an expert in our own lives and have great reserves of strength to make desired changes but sometimes need an outside source of support to help us attain our full potential, however we define that for ourselves.

I began my academic career while raising two young sons, now both thriving young men. I first attended the Mental Health/Human Services program at Mt. Hood Community College. As I finished that training I knew I wanted to be able to work at a deeper level with people so I attained a B.S. in Sociology and then a Masters degree in Social Work, both from Portland State University.

Before pursuing my academic goals I worked in many fields including factory work, silk screening, tree planting and forest fire fighting for the DNR, security guard, in home health aide, and an interesting two years working on an archeological dig in North Bonneville labeling and identifying thousands of artifacts.

In addition to my work as a therapist I am also a writer and hope to publish sometime in the near future. I have participated for the past few years in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in which one writes a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. It can be daunting but a lot of fun.
